    • The investor can also apply for citizenship via purchasing the real estate that is already built. Such real estate includes private dwellings and houses or single units in a condominium.
    • Within the first 7 years after becoming an owner of the real estate, the investor should not sell it or transfer it in any way to third parties. If the investor fails to comply with such an investment requirement, their citizenship will be revoked.

    Applicant Requirements

    General Requirements

    Good health

    All applicants who apply for St Kitts and Nevis passport should be in a good health and do have any contagious diseases at the moment of application.

    Clean Criminal Record

    Every applicant who applies for St. Christopher and Nevis should possess a clean criminal record. The record is considered 'clean' even if there was a recorded minor traffic offense, provided that the penalty for such an offense did not involve imprisonment.

    No Bankruptcy

    One of the requirements of economic citizenship of St. Kitts and Nevis is that the applicant has never been declared bankrupt in any country for the period of 10 years prior to submission of the application.

    Restricted countries

    According to the recent legislative changes, applicants who are citizens or normally reside in the countries listed below cannot apply for a St. Kitts passport: Russia, Belarus, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea.

    No denial in visa or citizenship

    An applicant is considered eligible for the program, provided (1) she/he has never been denied citizenship in any country and/or (2) she/he has never been denied a visa by a country with which St. Kitts and Nevis has a free visa treaty.

    Clear source of funds

    An applicant should be able to prove that funds used to pay the investment sums derive from legal activity.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Main Applicant/Investor

    • Age: The main applicant should be at least 18 years of age in order to be able to start an application process.
    • Health and Character: The applicant should be in good health and possess a reputable character to pass all background checks.

    Children

    • Both biological and adopted children could be included in the application.
    • Any child below 18 years of age;
    • Any child above 18 years of age, if he/she is physically or mentally challenged; or
    • Any child in between 18 and 25 years old, single, and pursuing an educational degree and fully supported by the main applicant

    Spouse

    • A person of the opposite sex to the main applicant;
    • A person who is in a duly registered marriage with the main applicant. Civil unions and civil partnerships are not considered a marriage, and
    • Only one spouse from a polygamous marriage could be included.

    Parents

    • Both biological and adoptive parents could be included in the application;
    • The parents should be related to the main applicant and/or to their spouse; and
    • The parent should be above 55 years of age, provided they live with and are fully supported by the main applicant.

    TIMELINE AND APPLICATION PROCESS FOR SAINT CHRISTOPHER AND NEVIS CITIZENSHIP PROGRAM

    Before submission of the document to the St. Kitts and Nevis CBI Unit, an applicant is required to pay due diligence and application fees upfront. Once paid, the documents, along with the proof of payment, are sent for submission. Please note that the paid due diligence and application fees are non-refundable in a case of rejection of the application.

    Step 3 -

    Expected Duration: Up to 180 days

    Examination of submitted documents by St Kitts and Nevis CBI Unit

    St. Kitts’ citizenship by investment program is known for its rigorous ground checks of all applicants. The internal due diligence of each applicant above 16 years old is performed by the Financial Intelligence Unit. According to the recent changes, each applicant older than 16 years of age should undergo a mandatory interview. The interview is conducted online in the applicant’s main language. The purpose of the interview is to assess the eligibility and values of each applicant.

    Upon the thorough examination of the documents, the St. Kitts and Nevis CBI Unit can adopt one of the following three decisions:

    – approval in principle;

    – denial;

    – delay for cause.

     

    Step 4 -

    Expected Duration: Up to 90 days

    Issuance of Certificate of Registration

    Upon the issuance of government approval in principle, the main applicant is required to pay the required minimum investment sum as per the chosen investment option. In the case of the investment into real estate or an approved public benefit project, the investor would be required to pay government approval fees on top of the investment sum.

    After all fees are duly paid, the CBI Unit will issue a Certificate of Registration.

    Step 5 -

    Expected Duration: Up to 30 days

    Administrative Formalities

    The Certificate of Registration is an official basis for the issuance of a paper passport. One of the important formalities of the application process is taking an oath of allegiance. You can take an oath in the St. Kitts and Nevis embassy abroad or in the honorary consulate of your choice.
